Email from "confidentialrevpd@proton.me" to Office of the Police Complaints Commissioner was made public by Vancouver Police Board with heavy redactions
As a single female who has lived at main and hastings since 2019, I feel less safe with no people on the street. During the day the cops leave empty cars parked and some walk around when they are not needed, and at night the streets are empty of people and police. That leaves single women vulnerable. In the past if anyone was a jerk, others on the street would come to the aid of a person. But there is no longer anyone to come to someone's aid during the evening and nighttime. In 6 years I have been shown nothing but politeness and kindness from people on the street and yet I have seen and experienced rudeness, sarcasm and hostility from the VPD. I join other dtes women to support our community for safety for all -- which does not come from the VPD. imho.
The Downtown Eastside is finally cleaning up and starting to become a safer place for people to walk through. This disgruntled employee just seems to be upset that he’s being held accountable to do some work. There was a phenomenal press release recently that showed all of the weapons that have been seized from that area. Statistics are clearly showing that the extra police presence has made a difference. And, to slam a senior inspector in a very sheepish way … lol, come on - super butt hurt employee. As a Vancouver resident, I feel much safer in the east side, and I would largely attribute this to the efforts of the VPD.

Another cop here, for the same department as a matter of fact. Let me tell you - there is plenty to complain about regarding the VPD and its management; however, the department asking police officers to actually police the city streets is not one of them. The department asking its officers to do two drug arrests in the most notoriously drug infested postal code in Canada - is also not one of them.

So you think indiscriminate arrest quotas in vulnerable areas aid the public? At least you identified what side you’re on.
